Supporting mental and emotional wellbeing through physical activity

Activity for ME is a Merseyside-based Community Interest Company helping people of all ages and abilities use movement to support their mental and emotional wellbeing.

Through inclusive activity sessions, practical resources, and community partnerships, we empower individuals and communities to find physical activity that works for them.

Movement that supports wellbeing — your way

Drawing on techniques developed through exercise referral programmes, Activity for ME promotes understanding of how physical activity can help manage stress, mood, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.

We believe physical activity should be:

Whether you’re taking your first step or adapting movement to your needs, we help you discover activities that support both body and mind.

WHAT DOES PHYSICAL ACTIVITY MEAN?

Physical activity can be whatever you need it to be

Physical activity isn’t just exercise.
It’s movement — in all its forms.

It might be:

  • Walking the dog
  • Stretching and breathing
  • Chair-based movement
  • Swimming, yoga, or strength work
  • A moment of calm, or a release of energy

Physical activity can help you:

  • Clear your mind
  • Build confidence
  • Reduce stress
  • Feel grounded and in control

EXPLORE ACTIVITIES

Walking

Gentle, accessible movement that supports both physical health and mental clarity. Walking offers space to breathe, reflect, and find calm in everyday moments.


Swimming

Low-impact, joint-friendly, and adaptable to all abilities. Swim for structure and goals, or simply to relax and enjoy movement in the water.


Exercise Ball > Activity Resources

Exercise balls are great to have at home. They improve balance, core strength, posture, and flexibility.

Fun, relaxing and rewarding, exercise balls support your weight, letting you adapt exercises to safely challenge yourself and grow in confidence.


Slam Ball > Activity Resources

A Slam ball is a weighted, soft ball that stays where it lands. Great for releasing frustration and building strength.

Whatever or whoever upset you, channel that energy and release it by smashing the slamball!


Yoga & Pilates

Equipment-free movement that builds strength, flexibility, balance, and calm. Coordinating breath and movement supports both physical and emotional resilience.


Chair-based exercises

Safe, supported movement designed to improve mobility, balance, strength, and confidence — ideal for those needing adapted or accessible exercise options
