About
I’m Pete, I’m behind Activity for ME.
Through my work on an exercise referral programme, I have worked with many people facing different difficulties and seen the positive affect that engaging in regular physical activity has on them. From walking and talking through difficulties to channelling that energy/emotion into the right activity and movement helps process, refresh and reframe. Physical Activity doesn’t solve any problems but it helps clear the mind, re-energise and find a focus to face the difficulties and manage the stresses of every day life.
Whenever I’ve had stressful or challenging times I’ve been able to find an outlet in sport or physical activity to clear my head.
Football, running, cycling, yoga, climbing, hiking have been my main activities for this. As I’ve gotten older, my preferences, my time and my body have all changed. Life brings with it new challenges, emotions, different circumstances. Having these physical activity outlets has helped me adapt along the way, Physical Activity has helped me de-stress, process, recharge, strengthen, focus, switch off, recover, build…
Activity for ME is here to share resources and encourage others. Whether it’s changing perspective of what Physical Activity or Exercise is, demonstrating activities or providing guidance and motivation. Channel your energy into something positive, get what you need out of it, find what works best for you – the Activity for ME.

The Activities for ME
Cycling and Hiking are 2 of the main Activities that work for me. Getting out and about, discovering new places and having a goal to work towards are massive for me. Planning days out or trips, training for them give me a focus. The process of having something to work towards is just as rewarding as the eventual trip!
These are some of the trips that have helped me over the last few years…
In September 2025, me and a friend, Andrea from Italy rode between Venice and Munich.
We rode together a lot during the Covid pandemic, we were both in Parma, Italy and would venture out into the Appennini foothills for some rides at the weekend.
For me at that time, cycling played a massive part in keeping me sane during restrictions and uncertain times.
Our love of cycling had us talking about a trip for a while. Discoverring that there was a cycle path (most of the way) between Venice and Munich gave us our destination.
We chose to do the route South to North, as it was the quieter option but also to finish with some beers in Munich sounded a good reward!
Following the path from the lowlands of Veneto, over the Alps into Innsbruck, Austria and then crossing into the forests of Bavaria before finsihing in Munich.
Despite punctures, wet weather and tough inclines we pushed on, taking it a day at a time, enjoying the ride, the great food and the changing, incredible scenery!
In June 2025, me and my friend Dan, set out do the Tour du Mont Blanc. 10 days hiking the base of the mastiff.
Walking roughly 10 miles per day with big elevation ascents and descents, along with weather, injury and fatigue…it was tough! Incredible scenery, having a goal to aim for, joking around and supporting each other kept us going.
This was our TMB!
In March 2024, I spent 12 days cycling the North Coast of Scotland, 500 miles clockwise from Inverness over to the West Coast then from Applecross through Torridon and Ullapool up to Durness. Across the North Coast to Thurso and John O’Groats before passing Wick and Dornoch on the return to Inverness. This is just a quick snapshot of what I saw along the way. The real beauty of this was in the riding…quiet roads, winding roads, long climbs, smooth descents, fresh air, OK weather conditions (a bit of crazy wind and rain in the Far North West), peace, quiet but most of all freedom!
I started planning this in December 23, I needed something to train for and keep me focused after Xmas and I wanted to see more of the Highlands and the West Coast of Scotland. This was the perfect trip, it gave me something to train for and look forward to in quiet Winter months, plus the spin classes in preparation were a great way to channel stress into something positive.
Adventure. Beautiful landscapes. A challenge. Fresh air. Freedom.
It was exactly what I needed at that time, it was the Activity for ME.
